Fishbowl Craft, Spooky soap tags, and a bit more fun

Since I dropped my masters class this semester, I have had a lot of fun actually doing some of the things I saw on Pintrest. Here is the gift I gave the kids in Jay's class...I got some Swedish fish very cheap with coupons like a month ago, and even though this would have been perfect for valentines day, I didn't think they would last that long. I found these on etsy: http://everything-in-focus.blogspot.com/2012/02/valentines-treats.html but didn't like how they looked, so in the comments I found a link to a free one...but I didn't like that one either so I designed my own based on the general shape, and made it a little more Halloweeney with an orange fishbowl and a fun font.
Then I wanted to make something tasty for friends who were coming over, so I made this:
The Cheeseball I pinned from this site: http://www.familyfreshmeals.com/2012/09/the-perfect-fall-cheese-ball.html I used a variety of coupons and sales to get these soaps for very cheap, so I decided they would make good teacher presents, and I got the tags printed at Mail n Copy on card stock. I had orange and black ribbon in my scrapbooking stuff, and we found some little spider stickers (that I got 75% off after Halloween last year so we stuck them on top. On the back I wrote.. "Thank you for teaching Jay" and "Thank you for teaching Andy"
I found the free printable tags here: http://www.sisterssuitcaseblog.com/2013/09/pumpkin-soap-gift-printable-tag.html Grandpa and Grandma S. brought back some soccer jersies from their trip to Italy. Know these players?
Some wrestling with Daddy when he gets home from work. I love Andy's face in the second one.

Photoshop project from my students

I assigned a Photoshop project based on something I saw on Pintrest. My students have gotten pretty good at figuring things out and here is what a few of them came up with.

A cute card from a 2 year old...

I was looking for a way for Jay (2 1/2)to create a card for his grandparents a few months ago and wan't finding any good options that didn't require any skill. I looked on Pintrest, but couldn't find anything except Christmas cards. I decided to let him paint, and came up with a card idea for myself. Maybe someone can use this idea for Mother's Day coming up. First I had him paint a piece of paper with a few colors.

Then I decided what shape I wanted to create (I chose a butterfly for Easter).
I cut out part of that shape:

Then I went back to the card and drew out the shape. I added scrapbooking paper because I didn't have time for Jay to paint multiple pages of different colors.

After that I put all the pieces together and added the middle of the butterfly.

I added a bit of the painting to the front of the card and added a few more scrapbooking features. I'm guessing it took me 45 min. to put it together (not counting the painting time with Jay).

Happy card making!
(you can see the other pictures he made later hanging up in the background:)

Scrapbooking

A little bit of what I have been scrapbooking about this summer:
This layout about the tornado was fun because I used 3 new techniques. First, I used a small roller (and a small round thing) and tempera paint to give the first layout some personality. Then I added metal objects to the side. On the other layout I used an ink jet transparency (and a scanned in newspaper photo) to get what I wanted.

These are pages that I left sitting around half finished since this winter, and when I got felt letters at a garage sale for 25cents, I knew I wanted to use them on this layout.

Rainy weather, scrapbooking fun.

So I've looked outside (off and on) the last couple of days and I've seen this:

Rainy weather, very green lawn.
And if it's not raining, it is either very windy or there is severe weather around.
(see the lightning in the cloud!)

With all my free time now that school is out, and because I am not going outside, I have done a bit of scrap booking. These two include my nephew Caleb...it seems like I have so many cute pictures of him:)

In this "Aunt Angie" one, I only used the "hard light" portion of the picture so the faces look a little funny.

I changed the title on this one like 6 times.

Spring Break 2008

Spring Break 2008 is a breath of fresh air. I returned home from Lincoln on Wed. and am happy to be "getting stuff done". I miss my family already. I will talk in more detail about my trip later, but I just finished this scrapbooking page of Caleb's first easter egg hunt. Fun times!

Game night!

We have game nights every once in a while with friends. This past week Amber and Tom were in town and we ate Stromboli and played Hoopla and Family Feud DVD edition. Both games were great! We also played with Jaidyn a bunch. I got some cute pictures and made some digital scrap booking layouts.

I also was in charge of some things for a baby shower for a teacher at school. I made these cute cards (with my scrapbooking stuff) for people to write advice on. Then we put them in a little photo book.

Random scrapbook page

I needed a scrapbook page to go in the front of an album. I found a random picture that I liked, and found some paper that I liked the pattern on. I'm very happy with the result.

I'll try to come up with some more pictures this weekend.

Winter boredom

WHEN THE WEATHER GETS COLD OUTSIDE....

1. Join workout club for some intense circut training and "dodge ball" Friday.

2. Make some tasty favorites for supper. I suggest tater-tot caserole and chocolate pie.

3. Reminise about college years over the phone with friends. (Is there a buffalo in your cornflakes, Karen?)

4. Take a hot bath.

5. Scrapbook about things that remind you of summer.

6. Watch numerous Seinfeld episodes until you have them memorized.

7. Scrapbook digitally and use bright colors to make you happy!

8. Create you own "American Gladiators" course in your house using soft balls and nerf guns! (ok, so I didn't actually do this one, but everytime there was a snow day in high school we did:))

9. Turn on one of the most annoying songs of all time, and sing at the top of your lungs. (See a list)

10. Go to bed early!

Crafty fun.

I have had some time to work on scrapbooking pages. Here are just a few...
Here is something I put in a frame for my mom.

I made a neclace for a friend from school.

I finished this layout from jeeping this summer.
